Handicaps and net scores
How strokes are given, and the course layout GolfBreak uses.
Each player gets strokes from their own handicap on the hardest holes first, by stroke index. A handicap of 18 gets one stroke a hole. A 22 gets one a hole plus a second on stroke index 1 to 4. In a nine-hole round, everyone plays off half their handicap. Plus handicaps give strokes back on the easiest holes.
The course layout
For now, every round uses a standard par-72 layout with set pars and stroke indexes. You can rename the venue, but not edit its pars or stroke indexes yet. Net scores and points are worked out against that layout.
Tip No handicap? Leave it blank and you’ll play off scratch, or use Help me estimate on a trip’s Players screen.
